Kaabi Kouyate

Kaabi Kouyaté is one of the most famous spokespersons for Guinean culture. The griot with the bewitching voice brings his art to life and combines tradition with the present in a perfectly successful mix of cultures. Son of the great Sory Kandia KOUYATÉ, he continues the griotic tradition by marrying the past with the present. This multi-talented musician and songwriter has created albums and plays that showcase his acting skills. It is his knowledge of large-scale music that allows him to master world music, while collaborating with music greats like Dee Dee Bridgewater. His agility to compose from one genre to another makes him well suited to be considered a modern griot who spreads a message of peace and social and cultural awareness. Having fulfilled her mission to share her father’s saga in the documentary “The Trail of Kandia” in 2014, Kaabi is now focusing on upcoming tours and creating music for future projects.
