Donné will perform to the FEF festival in Toronto in September

Donné Roberts

Donné Roberts is a passionate and talented stage artist. A guitarist, singer and songwriter that has made Toronto his home for over 20 years, he has twice won a JUNO Award and has been nominated three times for the same prize.

As soon as he goes on stage, he transmits an energy that immediately energizes his audiences, even when one does not know yet his music. He intrigues his audience with particular rhythms.

Donné Roberts sings mainly in Malagasy, language of his native country, Madagascar. Having studied in Moscow, USSR, he was the first black VJ on MTV Russia. He sang the backup voice for Ace of Bace. He is fluent in four languages: English, French, Russian and Malagasy.

Based in Toronto, Donné has built is following across Canada with the release of his 3 albums. He released “Rhythm Was Born” in 2006, “Internation” in 2012, and “Onward” in 2018 to critical acclaim. He makes ongoing contributions to various musical projects such as African Guitar Summit, the Okavango African Orchestra and collaborations with Amanda Martinez, Julian Fauth and many others.
